Arg!
This is my first blog post – evva!
My plan.
Write a post that can be read in a minute.
60 seconds.*
That’s all.
Why?
Cuz I think that’s all you want.
A sound bite.
Maybe that’s kinda sad, but really a lot can happen in a minute.
A first kiss.
A last breath.
And a gazillion good, bad and ugly things in between.
One girl became my nemesis all through elementary and secondary school because of a hurtful thing she uttered when we were seven years old on the playground at Northside Elementary. She probably doesn’t even remember it. But I do.
My first job after college, I thought I was in over my head. I was sitting in the office of a colleague I barely knew – on the verge of tears. I said something like, “Sometimes I’m afraid they will figure out I don’t know what I’m doing.”
She replied, “We all feel that way.”
Light bulb.
I was still stressed and terrified of messing up, but I didn’t feel alone anymore.
We all have stories like that – on both sides of the pain.
Anne Frank said, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
For me, that doesn’t mean orchestrating world peace or single-handedly saving the environment. It means making a positive difference in the life of someone around me. I’m not always successful, but I have 1,440 minutes every day to try.
Got a minute?
Make it matter.
I’m just saying....
*Yes, I did time it, and it took me 60 seconds to read. I can’t help if you are a slow or speed reader. (Also I won’t tell you my simple sixty seconds took me over an hour to write, re-write and revise. It will get easier, right?)
